Wyoming man charged in fatal 3-car crash
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Wyoming man has been charged with two counts of operating while impaired causing death as a result of a crash in Cascade Township on Thursday.
The charges came down in the 63rd District Court on Friday.
27-year-old Joseph Jay Ford, of Wyoming, was given a $25,000 cash surety bond for each count--or, $50,000 total.
Just before 10:00 p.m. Thursday, police say Ford's vehicle was driving northbound on Patterson Avenue, when he collided with a westbound vehicle driven by a 23-year-old Eric Fischer, of Caledonia. 20-year-old Andrea Herrera, of Lowell, was in the passenger seat.
Both vehicles then struck an eastbound semi-truck, driven by a 50-year-old Grand Rapids man.
Both Fischer and Herrera died as a result of their injuries.
A preliminary exam for Ford is tentatively scheduled for October 23.
