Oaklawn Hospital eliminates 21 positions
MARSHALL, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) Oaklawn Hospital is eliminating 21 leadership positions from its staff.
The hospital says the move is to reduce costs without impacting patient care.
"As always, our foremost goal is to provide care for our patients," said Dr. Ginger Williams, Oaklawn's President and CEO. "That's why we've chosen to approach this through elimination of leadership positions rather than by removing staff at a level that has greater direct contact with patients."
Eleven of the positions will be eliminated through reassignment or attrition.
The media release says: "Oaklawn has been working on other expense-reduction strategies for years, and those efforts will continue, Williams said. However, as the Affordable Care Act also known as healthcare reform and Obamacare transforms how people use health care, bolder strategies to change the healthcare delivery system are necessary, she said.
