Update: Woman sentenced in fatal business loop crash near Kalamazoo
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Kalamazoo woman who was behind the wheel during a crash that killed two of her friends was sentenced Monday.
A judge sentenced her to six months in jail with credit for one day served. She will also have to serve five months of probation.
25-year-old Kari Braley made a plea deal to avoid trial back in August. She pleaded guilty to one count of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing death.
As part of the agreement, two other charges were dropped.
Braley was driving on the US-131 Business Loop north of Kalamazoo last November when she lost control and rolled over into the median.
Her friend and co-worker Trevor Stuck was killed at the scene. The other victim, Brittany Despins, died a few days later.
