Grand Rapids man claims he helped FBI find Bin Laden, demands reward
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Kent County man claims he helped the FBI catch Osama bin Laden, and now he wants $25 million in reward money.
63-year-old Tom Lee of Grand Rapids says in 2003 he told federal investigators that bin Laden's compound was in Abbottabad, Pakistan.
Eight years later, in May of 2011, Navy SEAL Team 6 killed bin Laden in a raid on his compound there.
Lee claims to know a Pakistani intelligence agent who escorted bin Laden to that location.
He says he wants the reward money promised by the government and he's even hired a Chicago law firm in an attempt to get it.
