At-risk families getting support from some Michigan prisoners

(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - At-risk families are getting support from some unusual donors--Michigan's prisoners.

It's all part of the Pathways to Potential program, which is a part of the Michigan Department of Human Services, according to M-Live.

The project works in select Michigan schools, like Kalamazoo, Muskegon, and Detroit, to name a few cities.

M-Live reports one of the biggest challenges facing students at the moment is having enough money to afford school uniforms.

So, the program paired up with another, the Chance for Life Prison Outreach, and the money started rolling in.

According to M-Live, prisoners have donated more than $15,000, which will buy about 700 uniforms.
