Governor signs bills to block welfare withdrawals at some locations

LANSING, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Governor Rick Snyder has signed six bills into law that require ATM owners to make sure welfare recipients cannot take out money from certain locations.

Bridge Card holders will not be able to access cash from ATM at strip clubs, liquor stores and horse racing tracks.

Low-income Michigan residents can use Bridge Cards to pay for food and other items.

Newschannel 3's I-Team has been following this type of abuse for years.

Michigan has about 1.8 million people using Bridge Cards.

The bills passed with bipartisan support.
