Several cities offering Christmas tree recycling

WEST MICHIGAN (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Christmas is over, which means ornament-free trees will soon need to be recycled.

Beginning January 2, the Grand Rapids Public Service Department is offering free Christmas tree recycling.

Four drop-off locations will open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday through Sunday, until the end of the month.

The trees must be free of stands and all decorations.

Drop-off locations include Riverside Park, Jaycee McKay Family Park, Lincoln Park, and Huff Park.

The City of Kalamazoo has a tree-drop off during January as well.

It's just north of the Kalamazoo Farmers Market on Bank Street.

You can also leave your tree to be picked up on the curb, but just remember to leave a purple yard waste tag on it.
