Tips for holiday travel

WEST MICHIGAN (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - AAA says 85.8 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more away from home by car over the next few days.

If you're hitting the roads there are some things to remember to keep you safe, especially since we are expecting more snow Wednesday.

Keep at least half a tank of gas in your car. Have an emergency kit with blankets, gloves, hats, food and water in case you get stranded. If snow or ice storms do leave you stranded, stay with your vehicle, don't try to walk for assistance. It's too easy to get lost in the snow and cold.

We've also been checking the airports. So far in Grand Rapids there has been one cancellation. Everything is expected on time in Kalamazoo.
