DENSE FOG ADVISORY

Until 10 AM

The National Weather Service issues a DENSE FOG ADVISORY for all of West Michigan until 10 AM.  Fog may linger in some locations until midday.  Light winds, ample moisture near the ground are encouraging the formation of dense fog.  Because temperatures are near freezing, a light coating of ice may form on some road surfaces making them slick.  Please keep it safe this morning as you head back to work and school.

Police: Homes full of gifts can sometimes be easy targets

(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Police say homes full of gifts can be easy targets for thieves.

The holidays set the perfect stage for robbery, as homes are filled with lots of new and often expensive items, and many people tend to let their guard down, distracted by all sorts of Christmas activities.

And sometimes, criminals don't even need to break into your home to get what they want.

If you leave packaging scraps in your trash along the curb, those things can include your name, address, and sometimes your phone number.

Identity thieves can immediately find out who you are.

Police encourage you to cut up packages and labels before throwing them out.

"If you get a new TV, having a box outside, break the boxes down," advises Sgt. Kyle Griffith, with South Haven Police. "The less you advertise what's inside, the better."
