WIND ADVISORY

10 AM Until 2 AM Saturday

The National Weather Service maintains a WIND ADVISORY for nearly all of West Michigan from 10 AM this morning until 2 AM Saturday morning.  45 mph gusts are likely inland while 50 mph gusts are possible at the Lake Shore.  This kind of wind is capable of bringing down tree branches and creating some power outages.  Obviously, we hope that doesn't happen.  Winds blow from the northwest this morning then from the north by midday and beyond.  Stay with wwmt.com for your weather today and always!

Hartford to get bigger next week

HARTFORD, Mich. (AP) - The southwestern Michigan community of Hartford is about to get bigger.

The Herald-Palladium of St. Joseph reports a 20-year conditional annexation deal between the city and Van Buren County's Hartford Township expires Tuesday.

Township land affected by the agreement officially will be annexed to the city.

Mayor Ted Johnson says he's excited to see Hartford grow, especially since the city is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

The expiration of the agreement will increase Hartford's size from about 1 square mile to about 1.4.
