Blood drive held to honor woman killed in crash

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A family is looking for help in honoring their daughter's memory after she died in a tragic car accident.

19-year-old Samantha Anthony died back in March of 2012.

Deputies say she lost control of her car on a snow-covered ramp, and slid sideways in the path of a semi.

In honor of her memory, the Anthony family is co-sponsoring a blood drive with Relay for Life on Friday.

The blood drive will also raise money for the Samantha Leigh Anthony Pay It Forward Scholarship Memorial Fund.

With the fund, they do daily acts of kindness, such as giving people gas cards or purchase items for the Bronson Children's Unit.

"She was such a loving person, she would do anything for anyone," Anthony's sister Ashley Conklin said. "So this is a great way to keep her name alive."

You can donate blood and help the Anthony family's Pay It Forward scholarship fund on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 4:45 p.m.

The event will be at the American Red Cross on Venture Park in Kalamazoo.
