Two Mega Millions winners on opposite coasts, one $1M winner in Mich.
(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The holders of two lucky Mega Millions tickets sold on opposite sides of the country will split a whopping $648 million.
There was even a big winner locally.
One ticket, bought at Martin's Supermarket in Niles, matched 5 numbers, which nets them $1 million.
The winning tickets for the second largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history were sold in Atlanta, Georgia, and San Jose, California.
A sign reading "Multi-millionaire made here," hangs in the gift shop in San Jose where one ticket was sold, and for selling that ticket, the owner will get a $1 million commission.
Better than expected sales boosted the jackpot an extra $12 million.
New rules in October boosted the chances of winning from 1 in 176 million to 1 in 259 million.
The winners have 180 days to claim their prize.
The numbers were 8, 14, 17, 20, 39, and the Mega Ball was 7.
