Utility crews hope to have power back on in Barry Co. Sunday

BARRY COUNTY (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Utility crews have been working around the clock this weekend to restore everyone's power.

They were hopeful lights would be back on for everyone early Sunday morning.

Right now, there are still over 500 people without power in Barry County--one of the hardest hit areas in West Michigan.

Barry County has joined three other counties and one township in declaring states of emergency, which could make them eligible to receive state funding and help with clean-up efforts.

At it's peak, power was out for well over half the county.

Barry County Commissioners met with Consumer's Energy officials this weekend.

They tell us funding for clean-up was one of the main topics talked about.

Commissioners say the dollar amount could reach into the hundreds of thousands.
