Ice sculpting competition in Holland

HOLLAND, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Downtown Holland's ice sculpting competition gets underway Friday night.

When temperatures drop, competition gets heated on the ice sculpting circuit.

College students and professionals from across the Midwest will try to prove they're a cut above the rest.

The competition starts at 6:00 Friday night with teams making sculptures that could be displayed at restaurants, wedding receptions or other special events.

The big carving competition isn't until Saturday, though. Starting around noon sculptors get four hours to transform a 300-pound block of ice into a frozen masterpiece.
