People in Battle Creek singing praises of their 'snow angel'

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Battle Creek man is making headlines across the country tonight for helping his neighbors dig out of this week's big snow storm.

He says he did it all - with a snow blower he bought at a garage sale.

Brian Torrey who lives off of Capital Avenue shared his warm heart that's already inspired others.

"I think its in my blood you know, I wish there were more people who did stuff like that," said Brian Torrey, Snow Angel.

Brian Torrey says it started with just plowing a single sidewalk, in negative 30 degree wind chills.

"Then i just started plowing driveways," said Torrey. Which turned into walkways.

"I got a lot of thank yous everyone would come outside and say thank you and kinda look at you weird like why are you doing this," said Torrey.

More neighbors sprang into action for hours at a time.

"The other day I started it must have been 930 we got done probably about 3 o'clock so it takes a while but like I say what else are you gunna do?" said Charles Gale, neighbor.

Torrey's effort has gone viral. He hopes this is an example of what neighbors should be.

"It was a family thing and that's the way we gotta be in this world is you gotta be a family," said David Smith, neighbor.
