Suspect arrested after stand-off

SAUGATUCK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - We're learning new information about a police stand-off in Saugatuck Township that ended the day after it started.

Our crews were there as police surrounded a mobile home for more than 13 hours.

We're told the man they were looking for had attacked his neighbor Tuesday night and police believed he was armed.

After 13 and a half hours of trying to coax the man out of his home police finally resorted to using gas to get him out.

Troopers tell us the man was involved in a felonious assault with a hand gun against his neighbor just before 7:00 Wednesday night.

The neighbor was not hurt, but the man refused to obey police orders.

Police evacuated nearby homes in case the situation escalated.

When the man finally did leave his home he did not resist police.

Police say this is not the first time they've been called out to this man's house. In fact, they were there just last week and say he's shown up to the state police post a number of times over the past few weeks.

The man is expected to be charged in Allegan County District Court Wednesday afternoon.
