Poll: Americans warming to idea of legal marijuana

(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - While the long lines continue at retailers selling legal marijuana in Colorado, the debate about legalizing marijuana in America is on the table.

According to a new CNN/ORC poll, America is warming to the idea.

About 55-percent are saying it should be made legal. 44-percent still say no and 35-percent believe smoking marijuana is morally wrong.

That's still a big drop from 70-percent who opposed it back in 1987.

The biggest opposition was found among republicans and southerners.
