Man found competent in CSC case

BRONSON, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Officials at a state mental hospital have found a man competent to stand trial in a criminal sexual conduct case.

43-year-old Joseph Wilkinson has been found competent to stand trial after allegedly soliciting a teen for immoral purposes.

A prelim hearing date has been set for January 30.

According to Bronson police a teen was playing basketball at Douglas Park in September 2013 when he says Joseph Wilkinson approached him.

The teen claims Wilkinson then made sexual advances, so he called 9-1-1 and tried to walk away.

Police responded and arrested the suspect for soliciting a minor for immoral purposes.

If convicted, Wilkinson faces up to four years in prison and a $4,000 fine.
