W. Mich. man celebrates responders who saved his life

(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A West Michigan man is celebrating a special kind of birthday this week--it's the one-year anniversary of the day Kalamazoo-area emergency workers saved his life.

Last January, 54-year-old postal worker Russell Hyder suffered a heart attack, while working at the Miller Road post office.

Later, he learned officers with Kalamazoo Public Safety and paramedics performed CPR on him for 45 minutes to an hour to help save his life.

On Friday, Hyder is inviting 50 chain of life caregivers to a special birthday party, thanking them for the job they do--saving people's lives.
