Borgess limiting visitors in wake of H1N1 virus

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Widespread cases of the flu are prompting one hospital in West Michigan to take extra precautions.

Borgess Medical Center is limiting visitors, it says, as a proactive safety measure.

According to a statement from the hospital, visitors must now be 12 years of age and older, with an exception made to siblings of patients.

In addition, visitors to Borgess Critical Care Units, and the Birthing Center are now limited to immediate family only, and only two visitors per patient will be allowed to visit in the Emergency and Trauma Center.

Borgess also emphasized that these steps are temporary, and are efforts to reduce patient exposure to the flu virus.
