Judge: 'Popcorn lung' lawsuit can move forward

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Grand Rapids man who says he got a disease from microwave popcorn can move forward with efforts to sue the company that made the flavoring.

David Stults was diagnosed with a rare disease called Bronchiolitis obliterans--also known as popcorn lung--in 2009.

He says he ate popcorn every day for 20 years, and got the disease from breathing in chemical additives.

After the case was rejected in December, a federal judge has re-instated the suit, saying Stults filed within the statute of limitations.
