Tips to avoid Valentines Day scams

(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Many people are looking to do something special for their loved ones on Valentine's Day, but the Better Business Bureau wants to make sure you don't become a victim of a new Valentine's Day scam.

First, open your emails with caution, as there are several bogus e-cards that ask you to click on links, which can let viruses attack your computer.

Only open e-cards from people you know.

You should also beware of fake flowers.

Online flower shops boast deals, but you could be buying fake flowers.

Only buy from shops that have a physical store location and use your credit card.

That way, if there is a problem, you can dispute it with your card company.

In addition, beware of emails touting great deals.

Only buy from online stores you've bought from before.

And if you are looking for love, remember not to wire money to anyone you met on the Internet.

Once you do, it's almost impossible to get it back.
