Humane Society of Branch County needs help

BRANCH COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The Humane Society of Branch County is reaching out the public for help. They say the building that houses some of the animals is falling apart around them.

Co-manager Jan Nageldinger says all their efforts are going to fix the building which means they have no money to help area animals.

She says the roof is crumbling, they need a new floor and many of the kennels are falling apart.

The facility also has no furnace or air condition to keep the animals comfortable.

Nageldinger says the shelter recently became a no-shelter facility she says all efforts and money is going to keep the building open leaving the county without a vital and necessary program to keep the animal population in check.

"We need a lot of help because we really need the spay neuter program," She says, "so I want to get this building completed so we can go on to that. We  really just need to spay and neuter in the community. Hillsdale or Branch county neither one had a spay neuter program."

The facility only recently became a no-kill shelter which also means they're caring for more animals as years progress.
