(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Grand Rapids man is facing charges after police say they found him with a weapon that had been stolen from a Michigan State Police vehicle.Police recently found the Colt M-16 rifle in the possession 33-year-old Todd Simmons.According to federal documents, on February 14th officers with the Kent Area Narcotics Enforcement Team executed a search warrant at Simmons' home in the 400 block of Benson Avenue NE.Once inside officers found a case containing the rifle, along with magazines and ammunition.According to the criminal complaint, Simmons told officers he purchased the rifle about a year ago.The rifle was reported stolen in August of 2012.Police say a thief smashed a window of a Michigan State Police trooper's truck. They took the weapon, a badge and personal items.Simons is being held on half-a-million dollars bond.His arraignment is scheduled for March 7th.
