Man arrested; girl reports father fired shots in Pennfield Township home

PENNFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A man in Calhoun County is under arrest after deputies say he fired several shots in the home while his wife and children were inside.

Deputies say they got a call around 8pm from a young girl her father had fired off a weapon in their home in the 100 block of Briar's Farm Lane in Pennfield Township.

She said she was concerned for her mother's safety as her parents had been fighting.

When deputies arrived two juveniles had exited the residence. A short time later the mother also left the home advising deputies her husband and an adult daughter were still inside.

The 40 year old mother confirmed that shots had been fired in the residence by her husband.

Deputies attempted to make contact in the home several times without success.

They say after a short time, the 43 year old man did exit the residence on his own where he was taken into custody by members of BCPD's Emergency Response Team and turned over to deputies from the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office.

No one was hurt in the incident.

The male was lodged at the Calhoun County Jail for Reckless/careless discharge of a weapon.

The name of the suspect is being withheld pending arraignment.
