11-year-old Colin joins K-Wings for the day

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - An 11-year-old Richland boy whose story has become an Internet sensation, becomes a professional hockey player for the day.

Colin worried he wouldn't have friends to celebrate his 11th birthday. Now he has an entire team celebrating with him.

He joined the K-Wings for Sunday's game against Fort Wayne.

Colin was presented with a one-day contract this past week at a surprise birthday party held by the team. Sunday, he even got to ride on the Zamboni.

His mother created a "Happy Birthday, Colin" Facebook page that drew more than 2 million likes. He also picked up thousands of birthday cards from the post office.
