Suspect arraigned in crash that injured Portage man

VALLEY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The man who police say caused a serious crash in Allegan County has been arraigned on a reckless driving charge.

On Monday, March 31st a pick-up and car were involved in a crash at the intersection of 43rd St. and 118th Ave. in Valley Township.

Benjamin Woodward from Portage suffered serious injuries and had to be extricated from his vehicle.

Woodward was working for Child Protective Services at the time of the crash and was operating a state owned vehicle.

Investigators say that the pick-up driver failed to yield the right of way, which led to the crash.

The pick-up driver, 32-year-old Adam Lee Tencate of Pullman, has now been charged with reckless driving causing serious injury.

Woodward is still in the hospital recovering from his injuries.
