110 suspected pot plants seized in massive grow op

LEROY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Michigan State Police say they stumbled upon a massive marijuana grow operation in Calhoun County.

It happened Sunday at a home on M-66 near L Drive S in Leroy Township.

Troopers say while outside the residence they developed probable cause that drug activity was taking place inside.

They got a search warrant and eventually found a large scale grow operation in the basement.

Troopers say they seized a total of 110 suspected marijuana plants and approximately 1 pound of suspected usable pot.

The Michigan State Police were assisted on scene by the Tribal Police of the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi and by the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office.

Arrests and charges are pending.

A warrant is being sought through the Calhoun County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
