Private investigator says body found in Indiana lake is Teleka Patrick

(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Teleka Patrick's family has been working with private investigator Jim Carlin for several months. Newschannel 3 talked to him Sunday afternoon about the body being found in a lake in Indiana.

"Although there's been no identification of the body, obviously it appears to be Teleka Patrick by a couple of different reasons that I don't want to confirm," Carlin says.

Carlin tells Newschannel 3, after hearing those reasons, there's no doubt in his mind it's the missing Kalamazoo doctor. Carlin also says investigators in Florida notified the family about what was found Sunday morning in Lake Charles.

He too says he talked to the family. "Evidently, what they were told by the sheriff's department is, in fact, it is Teleka Patrick. The police remained on scene just to provide some comfort for them and then family and friends started to arrive," Carlin says.

He has also been on the search for the 30-year-old for several months, including walking more than 21 hours during the last two weeks, taking photos. He says he looked through ditches, muddy roads and wooded areas He found nothing, which is why he thought it's possible the doctor was picked up by another driver.

Right now the focus is on her family. "Those people had such hope of bringing her home and I did too," he says. "We lost a wonderful lady, the family, relatives. She had so much to offer this society. It's just such a sad ending."

Teleka's sister also released a statement saying, "Our family was informed that a body was found that may be Teleka." She went on to say, "If you see an article saying the PI confirmed it, don't believe that either. Nothing has been confirmed at this time."
