Still no sign of Kalamazoo man lost near Asylum Lake

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - There are still no signs of a Kalamazoo man who police believe may have drowned in Asylum Lake last week.

Despite several days of intense searches, crews have not yet found Takashi Sugimori.

The 56-year-old has been missing since April 2, after telling his wife he was going cross-country skiing at the Asylum Lake Preserve Area.

Wave runners, sonar equipment and cadaver dogs have all assisted in the search, but to no avail.

Kalamazoo Public Safety Chief Jeff Hadley said Thursday that he still believes Sugimori is in the lake, and he would also like to thank the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department and Michigan State Police for their help.

State Police say dive teams will be back out Friday and Saturday.
