Spat between 2 W. Michigan judges hits top court

ALLEGAN, Mich. (AP) - The Michigan Supreme Court has been asked to intervene in a turf battle between two judges in Allegan County.
Judge Kevin Cronin wants to hire a law clerk who was fired as a referee handling county child support matters. When Chief Judge Margaret Zuzich Bakker found out, she said she was forming a pool of law clerks - and Chris Anderson wouldn't be part of it.
Cronin claims Bakker is exceeding her authority. He's asking the Supreme Court to step in and stop creation of the law clerk pool without his consent.
In response, Bakker two weeks ago asked the Supreme Court to dismiss the complaint. The court hasn't responded.
There's bad blood between the judges. In a 2012 email, Cronin said he won't be Bakker's "emotional whipping boy."
