Two arrested after shots fired

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Two men are behind bars after police say they fired guns multiple times during a fight.

Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers responded to the area of Race Street and Clinton Street around 12:30 a.m. for a report of shots fired.

Police say when they arrived on scene two men ran away from the area, one with an object slung over his back.

Officers chased them down and were able to take them into custody after a short foot chase.

A search of the area revealed two guns that police say the men threw during the chase.

One was a .357 handgun that was reported stolen out of Portage and the other was an AK-47 style rifle.

Investigation reveals that two people who live in the area were confronted by the two men armed with guns when they came home. The men shot multiple times in the air during the confrontation. Nobody was hit.

The two men, 20 and 21 years old are from the Kalamazoo area. They are now both in the Kalamazoo County Jail on charges of Felonious Assault, Felony Firearm, Receiving and Concealing Stolen Property and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
