Community mourns after father of sextuplets dies of heart attack

HOLLAND, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A beloved West Michigan man and father of sextuplets died unexpectedly this week.

39-year-old Ben Van Houten passed away Wednesday night in his Holland home after suffering a heart attack.

Van Houten's father's in law, Calvin Reimink, says he was playing with his children on the trampoline at their Hamilton home Wednesday when he started having chest pains.

Reimink tells Newschannel 3 his son-in-law served as a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church in Holland for years and was also a leader for Awana, a Christian youth program.

Newschannel 3's Stacia Mullaney joined us from Holland with more on how the community is handling the tragic loss.
