Body recovered from lake positively identified as missing man

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says that the body recovered from Asylum Lake has been positively identified as Takashi Sugimori.

An autopsy performed on Sugimori revealed the cause of death as drowning.

The 56-year-old Sugimori was last seen on April 2 after police say he'd gone to the nature preserve to cross-country ski.

For the last three weeks, we've watched as crews searched every inch of the lake.

Sugimori disappeared a little over three weeks ago, since then we've watched as crews searched every inch of the lake.

The Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office, Michigan State Police, and dive teams have offered up their resources to help the police department look for him.
