Fundraiser to help family after father of sextuplets dies

HOLLAND, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A fundraiser is going on all day Wednesday in honor of the father of Michigan's first surviving set of sextuplets.

Ben Van Houten of Hamilton died from a heart attack early last month at the age of 39.

He was the father of seven children, including sextuplets who captured national attention when they were born in 2004.

Now Bagger Dave's Restaurant is holding a fundraiser for the family at their Holland location on West Shore Drive.

For the whole day the restaurant will donate 15 percent of their sales to the Van Houten Children's Trust.

The restaurant will be open until 10:00 p.m. Wednesday night.
