Researchers studying effect of cell phone use on children's' brains

UNITED KINGDOM (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Researchers in Britain want to know what effect all that talking and texting may have on a child's developing brain.

The children at Kingsmead School in North London are part of a new three year study that's tracking the cell phone habits of about 3,000 students.

"We will be capturing how fast the students can respond to the stimulus they are seeing and how accurately they are responding," said Dr. Mireille Toledano.

But researchers won't be able to monitor students' devices while they're in class since the school has a strict "no cell phone" policy.

The British government commissioned the study, which also looks at other technologies that use radio waves including laptops, tablets and wireless internet.
