MHSAA announces move for baseball, softball finals

EAST LANSING, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - For the last 24 years, the road to a high school baseball and/or softball championship has led to Battle Creek.

But that road has just taken a major detour.

The Michigan High School Athletic Association announced that it will move the finals from Battle Creek's Bailey Park to Michigan State University.

Beginning next June, the baseball finals will be played at MSU's McLane Stadium, while the softball finals will be played right next door, just a short fly ball away at Peter F. Secchia Stadium.

MHSAA Executive Director Jack Roberts said of the decision, "we've reached a time now when many of our college facilities have been upgraded and we have many more options to consider for our finals than we did decades ago. We believe Michigan State offers us the best situation, and an opportunity to continue playing our finals for both sports at adjacent venues."
