Lions playoff hopes damaged by loss to Baltimore

DETROIT (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Stunned may be the only word.

What more can there be after Baltimore's Justin Tucker drilled a 61-yard field goal with 38 seconds left to lift the Baltimore Ravens to an 18-16 win over the Detroit Lions Monday night.

The loss severely damages the Lions playoff hopes.

As is so often the case with the Lions, it never should have gotten to that point.

Three interceptions by Matthew Stafford trumped a solid defensive effort that held the Ravens out of the end zone.

Tucker booted six field goals.

Some called it the biggest game in the short history of Ford Field, and the Lions bumbled it away.

As far as their playoff hopes, to win the division now--likely the only path for any team from the NFC North into the playoffs--Detroit needs to win their final two games, and hope the Bears and Packers both lose at least once.

The Packers and Bears play in Week 17, so after this weekend, the Lions will know their rooting interest.

If they both win Sunday, the Lions will be eliminated.
