WIND ADVISORY

10 AM Until 2 AM Saturday

The National Weather Service maintains a WIND ADVISORY for nearly all of West Michigan from 10 AM this morning until 2 AM Saturday morning.  45 mph gusts are likely inland while 50 mph gusts are possible at the Lake Shore.  This kind of wind is capable of bringing down tree branches and creating some power outages.  Obviously, we hope that doesn't happen.  Winds blow from the northwest this morning then from the north by midday and beyond.  Stay with wwmt.com for your weather today and always!

Kovacs' OT goal gives Western Michigan GLI title

DETROIT (AP) - Justin Kovacs' goal 2:01 into overtime gave Western Michigan a 1-0 win over Michigan Tech and the 49th Annual Great Lakes Invitational Tournament championship on Saturday night.

Lukas Hafner made 33 saves to record the shutout.

The tournament was played outdoors at Comerica Park, home of the Detroit Tigers.

Kovacs jammed the puck in from the side of the net for his ninth goal.

Pheonix Copley made 30 saves for Michigan Tech.

The championship game and the earlier consolation game were both pushed back an hour due to sunshine affecting the ice.
