The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids issues a LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY for Oceana, Muskegon, Ottawa, Allegan, Van Buren, Kalamazoo, Berrien, Cass, and St. Joe counties until 9 PM.  2" to 6" of snow are possible on northwest winds of 15 to 20 mph bringing lake effect snow bands near and across US 131, at times.  Some locations will see more than 6", especially closer to Lake Michigan.  Roads are slippery and become more tricky once the sun sets.

Western Michigan routs Siena Heights 83-47

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) - Shayne Whittington scored 16 points to help propel Western Michigan to an 83-47 blowout over Siena Heights on Thursday.

The Broncos (7-5) took early control of the game with a 22-3 run that included six 3-pointers to build a lead midway through the first half that would never be challenged. Hayden Hoerdemann contributed 12 points, David Brown added 10 and Western Michigan emptied its bench to get points from 13 different players in its final nonconference game.

Western Michigan was 27 of 60 from the floor and a near-perfect 20 of 21 from the foul line.

Siena Heights, an NAIA school, shot just 25 percent from the field, and hit only five of its 29 attempts from beyond the arc.

Christian Covile led the Saints with 20 points and eight rebounds, the team's only player in double figures.
