(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Michigan State University fans and alumni are celebrating Thursday morning. The Spartans took down the Stanford Cardinals in Wednesday's 100th Rose Bowl. It's Michigan State's first Rose Bowl win in more than two decades.Wednesday night at Old Burdick's-Wings West in Kalamazoo people gathered wearing green and white to cheer on their team"This is great. 26 years ago I went out to the Rose Bowl. We won. This is much better because I'm older and it took us a long time, but I'm glad we're there and glad we won it," said Paul Wartner. "This was a great day for Spartan nation and Spartans everywhere. I can't tell you how happy I am. I'm an MSU graduate 1976 and I've waited years and years and years for this moment," said Ryan Grenadier. Following the Spartans win, firefighters in East Lansing say they responded to four minor furniture fires around MSU's campus. But they say it was a relatively quiet night. It was a far cry from the more than 50 fires that were set in the wake of the Spartan's Big-10 Championship win in early December.More than a dozen were arrested after those riots.
